The West Yorkshire German Shepherd Dog Club Championship Show

June 13 th 1999

My thanks to the Committee for their kind invitation to judge at this most prestigious Show , especially opposite such a well respected Judge as Herr Frank Goldlust .For my part it had been a long held ambition to judge at this Club since taking part in one of the best Shows I have ever attended back in June 1980 when Brian Wootton and Herr Albert Platz judged at The Harrogate Showground . Thankyou !!!

As always "West Yorks " is an extremeley well organised event in the perfect setting for a GSD Show .Thanks also must go to my 2 Stewards who enhanced , not only the smooth running of the show , but also the very pleasant atmosphere which prevailed throughout the day . My appreciation also to all the exhibitors for showing some absolutely excellent females , indeed , with the sort of quality being shown it makes a very strong case for age classes and grading rather than first prizes !!

1st 163 Timmins Alexbria Holly

8 months black and tan,correct type correct development for age normal head and expression although foreface could be less long and ears could be smaller,normal withers good back croup could be slightly longer,long tail .Good shoulder upper arm could be slightly longer and less steep sufficient hindquarters and medium hocks ,a little loose away and towards , walked well but requires more movement , very promising

2nd 95 Kirby Rafaye Kascha

8 months black and tan ,well grown for age but could be more stretched , feminine head , pronounced withers good back tho croup could be longer and less steep , normal shoulder , upper arm could be less steep good underline sufficient hindquarters with slightly long hocks , loose both ways but has very good attitude very promising

10 months striking bright tan correct type , feminine , medium strength , tall for age , slightly narrow all through at present but should imagine she will fill out with maturity , very good head and expression , pronounced withers , good back

with well moulded croup , correct shoulder and upper arm , pronounced hind quarters with over medium hocks , sound away little loose towards , moves well with conviction . Best Puppy in Show with my co-judges approval . Certainly one to watch , with continued development could go all the way !!! Very Promising +

2^nd 62 Gray & Davidson Amulree Kelly

11 months black and gold , correct type , correct development for age feminine head and expression , not shown in the best condition , lacked muscle tone and flattened in the back whilst moving , normal croup , normal shoulder though upper arm could be slightly longer , good bone , sufficient hind quarters , loose away and towards needs to firm all through very promising

17 mths big paling gold bitch of correct type feminine head and expression , not presented in the best coat condition well defined withers good back and cleanly laid croup which could be a little longer.Well laid shoulder tho upper arm could be less steep good bone normal underline and pronounced hindquarters.Sound away and back with outline retained on the move , Very Good

2nd 84 Johnstone Amulree Celina

15 mths black and tan big strong correct type good head and expression good withers back and croup , well laid shoulder and upper arm strong bone with well tucked underline and pronounced hind angles with over medium hocks , toes in towards , sound away , walks well though at present just lost out to the winner on enthusiasm and movement , with some good work could have a bright future !! .Very Good

23 months paling gold , upper middle size ,medium strong , feminine, correct type , again not in the best coat condition, which would account for her colour , but never the less firm and dry , normal head and expression dark eyes normal withers , firm back , croup could be a little longer , normal shoulders steep upper arm of good length , correct bone and feet with dark nails , pronounced hind quarters ,with over medium hocks loose towards and away but retains her outline on the move .Very Good +

2^nd 176 Williams Lararth Vanessa

21 months black and tan , upper middle size , medium strength correct type , expressive though left ear could be firmer , good withers , firm back , well moulded though slightly short croup correct front angulation with strong oval bones and tight feet , correct tuck of underline with pronounced hind angles and medium hocks , sound away and back but didn’t quite match the movement of the first bitch . Very Good +

2 years paling gold , big , strong , correct type , harmonious ,presented in excellent condition although the coat is just starting to drop , strong head , good expression , dark eyes, pronounced withers , firm back with well moulded croup,correct shoulder and upper arm , though to be hyper critical would prefer a little more forechest , strong bones with tight feet and dark nails , pronounced hind quarters , sound away and back , moved with great enthusiasm ,well presented has a bright future. Excellent Bitch C.C.

2 ½ years Black and gold upper middle size, medium strength, correct type , feminine head and expression , normal withers firm back , the clean outline spoiled by rough hair over the tail set ,correct shoulder though upper arm could be longer and better angled well tucked underline with sufficient hind quarters ,sound away and back, started first , presented a pleasing picture whilst walking unfortunately not sustained whilst gaiting Excellent

26 months paling black & gold bitch , big , strong head with rather large ears , pronounced withers ,good back and croup correct shoulder with steep though long upper arm , pasterns and feet could be tighter , pronounced hind angles with long hocks needs a little more substance which will come with age , sound with good outlook ,well presented Excellent

28 months black and tan , middle size , correct type , very feminine , expressive and alert , pronounced withers firm back correct length and lay of croup , correct shoulder though upper arm could be slightly longer ,pronounced hind angles with medium hocks , sound away , moves quite wide towards , not quite in top condition yet but have absolutely no doubt will be very hard to beat when she is , moved well with good attitude Excellent Res C.C.

2 ½ years Black and tan , big , correct type , strong , good head ,good expression tho eyes could be darker , unfortunatey not shown at her best , withers could be more pronounced , normal back , good length and lay of croup , well laid shoulder and correct length and lay of upper arm strong bone , with enough hind quarters and over medium hocks , could be less close away and firmer towards , started first , walked well but couldn’t sustain her gait , never the less when her condition returns will trouble the best . Excellent
